Your fishing success in hooking up to deep water summer king mackerel depends on using the proper electronics, downrigger systems, fishing gear and baits. Deep water king mackerel often scatter over a live bottom under huge schools of baitfish where they forage for an easy meal. Summer king mackerel will also suspend at mid-water depths and on the bottom where water temperatures are cooler. Keep in mind that king mackerel that typically feed close to and right on the surface will migrate deep when bait fish do or when weather changes occur.
