Through the generosity of dealers and manufacturers as well as SKA members, the Recreational Fishing Alliance received more than $10,000 to help protect your right to fish. Gary Caputi was on hand to draw ticket numbers for prizes such as lures, sunscreen, rods, reels, kites, rod holders, wire twisting machines, bait pens, sunglasses, and so much more. Thank you to those who donated products for the raffle and to those who bought tickets in support of the RFA. To join, go to www.JoinRFA.org.

Due to worsening weather conditions the National Championship has been changed to a one day event. We are also moving the awards up to Saturday morning. The schedule has been updated to reflect this change. Be sure to tune into the live stream delivered direct from the Summerlin Dock at 3:00 PM EDT.
Jack Holmes opened the 2010 SKA National Championship Captain’s Meeting reminiscing about the early years of the organization. He invited the Charter Members to stand and be recognized followed by the past champions -National and Top Anglers of the Year--who received resounding applause from the crowd estimated at 750. While other Nationals have had a theme, this year was purely a celebration of twenty years of great fishing, competitive camaraderie, and the honored traditions established over that time.
The burning question on every team’s mind was, “Will Jack call the tournament due to the weather?” The answer was no--but with a twist. Uncertainty in the forecast led Jack to declare the tournament to be an either/or format. That means that two fish can be weighed in the tournament: one on Friday and one on Saturday, two on Friday, or two on Saturday. If you weigh two fish on Friday, you’re done fishing.
Checkout is at 6:30am both days and you may exit the inlet after you show your number, but must wait for Jack or Bob to turn you loose at 7:05 or 7:10am when they determine there is ‘safe light.’
At the end of the day Thursday, SKA Membership Director, Loreen Berlin had checked in 212 teams set to compete for the coveted title of National Champion. Here’s wishing fair seas, safe journeys, and good fish to all. We’ll see you at the weigh-in at Summerlin Dock at South Causeway Park in Ft. Pierce between 3:00 and 4:30pm!
