When I began talking to fishermen on Tuesday, bait was easy to find. But someone must have told the blues and Spanish you guys were on the way to provide them an easy meal. Take plenty of Sabikis with you today.
David Perry form Murrells Inlet, SC is here for the third time in Biloxi. He's fishing MSC/Half Mine this year. "I love coming out here; the fishing is so good I can't pass it up," he says. They looked for bait on Tuesday and said it was pretty easy to find hardtails.
Terry Grantham fishing My 3 Sons has qualified every year that SKA has had a Championship. They found bait on Tuesday as well.
That all changed on Wednesday. Talking to those who had been out that morning all had tales of losing many, many Sabiki rigs. They suspect bluefish or Spanish mackerel to be the culprits. Lucky Koi was out marking bait on the rigs and the Sabikis came up hookless.
The Unreel fishing team found bait, but it took longer than expected. And they had the same experience with something tearing up their bait rigs. They're still looking for the kings.
Trivial Pursuit had several rigs destroyed to get a dozen hardtails. "I'm glad we have 12 penned up," said Ronnie Worsham. "We went through seven or eight Sabikis; we think it's bluefish cutting them off," he continued.
So, if you still need bait, be sure to stop by and see Deona at the SKA merchandise booth to stock up before you go out to get them.
