Nov 21 06:11am EDT Change in Format Due to Weather

by Chris Rodenbaugh

The format for the SKA National Championship has always been a two-fish aggregate over two days of fishing, one fish each day.

It is likely that the first day of fishing, Friday, the weather will be less than perfect and a small craft advisory is projected. SKA tournaments have always been “Captain’s Choice” tournaments and that choice will be taken to the next level for this National Championship. Teams will still gain points with a two-fish aggregate, however the difference is that those two fish can both be weighed on Day 1, both weighed on Day 2, or one fish Day 1 and another Day 2. Even teams that check out on Day 1 and do not weigh a fish can still weigh two fish on Day 2. The reason for this is that a boat may check out on Day 1 only to find water the captain deems unsafe. Safety has always been the number one priority with the SKA, especially since fishing with the entire family is encouraged.

If you check out, you must check in by radio (VHF Channel 72) or by calling 386/801-3200 or 904/669-0011. We want to know you are safely in port.
