There is a proposal being distributed by the Gray’s Reef National Marine Sanctuary for a closed research area within the sanctuary. please go to http://graysreef.noaa.gov and look at the research area information and research area scoping information plus other info thy have listed. In reading this proposal I can’t determine the actual size of the area they wish to close and what percentage of this is to the sanctuary itself, because there seems to be several suggestions. This may be a good compromise to the complete closure we were faced with several years ago, or it may just be another guise to put us to sleep and eventually close the whole thing. I have requested clarification. We were not invited to participate in their plan. If you have any information on this subject I would appreciate a call or an e-mail.
