Mercury Outboards, a division of Brunswick, Corporation, announced a very special junior angler program for the Southern Kingfish Association for 2008.
Mercury will award a $500 college certificate to the top SKA junior angler fishing on a Mercury powered boat in each of the SKA sanctioned events this year. At the end of an event, each junior will be recognized for his or her accomplishment. The captain of the boat will be required to fill out a form verifying his or her accomplishment. That form will be returned to Mercury upon which they will receive verification from Mercury.
The SKA junior angler will receive the $500 college scholarship or whichever amount they have banked, after high school graduation and the proper documentation has been received from an accredited nonprofit institution of higher education by Mercury.
This is a great program especially when you consider that a junior usually starts fishing at a rather early age and can fish until they turn 16. This represents a commitment of over $24,000 to further our kid’s education this year.
