Just thought I’d let everybody know that I had another runin with the DMV pulling my boat. 1st thing is he wrote me a weight citation I was pulling the boat with my Ford Excurision a SUV. After contacting Raleigh I found out that a Private passenger vehicles such as SUVs are not considered property hauling vehicles; therefore, they are not subject to the license weight requirements of N.C.G.S. Chapter 20-88. Should not have been issued a citation. #2 get your trailer inspected if you cross state lines and the gvw is over 10,000 lbs you need a fed inspection. #3 If the combined weight of your truck or SUV and the trailer gvw is over 26,001 you need a class A license. It looks like they are not going to let us alone. I was pulled in the New Bern Area. Also the ticket was for $740 wow.

Just to let everyone know I recieved my letter from the DMV this week. And it said: The NC Dept. of Crime control and Public safety, at your request has conducted an administrative review of the citation. Based upon our review of the circumstances, we have determined that the citation was issused in error. Accordingly this citation has been voided. So it you have a SUV with PV in the type on your registration card you do not need weighted tags to pull your boat.
